SINCE the inception of this democratic experiment with PDP in the saddle, the party has continued to propose and implement policies and programmes with arguments that are most often out of sync with any semblance of reason and logic. The dividends of democracy with Obasanjo as president has been one form of shock or the other arising from tendencies to short change the people. Nigerians fought hard to get a democracy, to at least have a say in the running of state. One believes that is what democracy as a system of government is all about.

The government of PDP only waited for few weeks after it had regained power to hike prices of petroleum products. A very strange way to say thank you for those who were united in retaining the government in power. This only smacks of ingratitude as the party lacked the grace and courage to do this anytime before the April elections. It is a gross betrayal of trust especially for those who voted for …
