FISC PEARL HARBOR--Due to major fleet deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Pearl Harbor underwent a surge in operations that began in January and didn't let up until this month [April].
Over the space of a few weeks, the USS Tarawa Amphibious Ready Group, the USS Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Task Force, and the USS Carl Vinson Battle Group plied Hawaiian waters on their way to the Persian Gulf or to Western Pacific locations.
Although much of the fleet was composed of "ships that passed in the night," their presence did not go unnoticed. The USNS Yukon (T-AO 202) made repeated trips into Pearl Harbor, where FISC personnel promptly loaded it with provisions and other material destined for the passing vessels. In ...
