CDR Joseph Acevedo, SC, USN died on Sunday, April 13 while serving at NSA Bahrain. At the time of his death he was assigned as Logistics Requirements Officer for Commander Logistics Force Navy Central Command. CDR Acevedo is survived by his wife, Yolanda, and sons, Joseph and Stephan. A full honors funeral was held at Arlington National Cemetery on May 6.
CAPT Edmond John Fitzpatrick Jr., USN (Ret.) passed away on April 7. in Williamsburg, Va. He served 31 years in the U.S. Navy, primarily in the Supply Corps, and retired in 1978. His final assignment was as Commanding Officer of the U.S. Navy Cargo Handling and Port Group in Williamsburg. A Vietnam veteran, he also held the Joint Service Antarctic Service Medal. He is survived by his wife Joan; his children, Gregory Fitzpatrick and wife, Cynthia of Dublin, Va.; Gerald Fitzpatrick of Arlington, Va., and fiancee, Mary Brooke Walker of Waldorf, Md.; Kelly Parsons and husband, Brian Parsons of Williamsburg, Va.; Mary Smith and husband, Renick Smith, M.D., of Fredericksburg, Va.; and Timothy Fitzpatrick of Lubbock, Texas. He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn Curry of Agawam, Mass.; Loretto Fitzpatrick of Farmington, Conn.; and Virginia Fitzgerald of Albuquerque, N.M.; and seven grandchildren.
