The beauty of this position is its "out-of-the-box" nature. The FOL is situated as a tenant command, on board the Salvadoran Air Force Base, on E1 Salvador International Airport property. You will work directly with the U.S. Embassy in E1 Salvador, as well as side-by-side with the Salvadoran Air Force.
As the AOIC for the FOL, you are not only involved in the regular chain of events regarding normal Supply Department functions (transportation, requisition, depot level repairables, fuels, etc.), but you are directly in control of airfield operations, C4I initiatives, task force hosting requirements, US. Embassy liaison as well as direct coordination with host nation Salvadoran Air Force in the daily operations of the FOL.
It is an extremely independent type duty, and requires independent thinking. You must be ready to be the boss, as the OIC is often called away for TAD and other requirements within the AOR (Miami/Puerto Rico, etc.).
Additionally, contracting skills are a definite plus, as you have oversight on all small construction and civilian personnel contracts. TAD trips likely in the AOR.
