Appliances don't get much simpler than clothes dryers. All dryers circulate heated air through a drum that tumbles the laundry The best do the job without overheating or overdrying your clothes, which can cause more problems than you may realize.

Tumbling around in high heat can damage many fabrics, especially synthetics, or shrink your favorite sweater to lilliputian size. Even moderate temperatures can do your duds a disservice if you leave them in too long, subjecting them to heat after all moisture has been removed. Making matters worse, excessive drying jacks up your utility bills.
