A policeman was injured and a patrol car damaged when officers went to deal with youths causing trouble outside a shop.
Officers went to investigate following reports that the group was harassing customers outside a supermarket in Devitt Way, Broughton Astley.
A 17-year-old man from Leicester was arrested and has been charged with aggravated bodily harm, criminal damage and a public order offence.
