LONDON (AFX) - British energy giant BP has closed its Valhall oil platform in the North Sea off Norway because of stormy weather, causing it to halt crude output totalling 80,000 barrels per day and evacuate staff.
"We have been closing it down because of storm damage to lifeboats overnight," spokesman Toby Odone said.
"The shutdown of production was completed at 2.00 pm and we haven't decided for how long it will last."
