SYDNEY, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - Downer EDI (ASX:DOW) says it is expecting a net profit of $A155 million ($US119.82 million) for 2006/07.
The company expects growth in revenue to $A5.2 billion ($US4.02 billion) and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of $275 million for the year.
Chairman Barry O'Callaghan said that notwithstanding non-recurring items, 2005/06 was a year that pointed to a strong future for the engineering company.
"The financial year 2007 outlook is for growth in revenue to .2 billion, EBIT of $275 million and and NPAT (net profit after tax) of $155 million," he told shareholders at the company's annual general meeting.
Over the coming year, Downer EDI would have an even more rigorous approach to the contracts it entered into, and would apply more stringent strategies to mitigate risks in the business, Mr O'Callaghan said.
"At the same time, the board recognises that we need to be careful that in the industries we are in, we do not get too risk averse, to the extent that we stifle our ability to grow," he said.
"The reality is that in a booming infrastructure sector, risks are exacerbated by a shortage of resources, including skilled people."
