CANBERRA, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - The man chosen to manage the federal government's superannuation bank account - the Future Fund - will be paid at least half a million Australian dollars (US$384,500) a year.
The Future Fund was set up to cover the liabilities of public servants' superannuation and will soon become Telstra's (ASX:TLS) single largest shareholder.
The government is preparing to offload $A8 billion ($US6.18 billion) worth of shares from its 51.8 per cent stake in the telco - about one third of its shareholding - and will park the remainder of the shares in the Future Fund.
Paul Costello, who has headed the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, takes up his post as general manager of the Future Fund Management Agency next month.
