MOSCOW, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - After getting a foothold in Russia's vast energy reserves, India has proposed an exploration venture with Russian gas major Gazprom and sought a stake in the Sakhalin-III oil and gas project in the far east.
India's Oil Minister Murli Deora during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Viktor Khristenko proposed a 49-51 venture between Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) (BSE:500312) and Gazprom, the world's largest natural gas producer.
While exploring for oil and gas in India, Russia and other countries, the ONGC-Gazprom venture could also work on projects to liquefy gas found in Russian offshore fields and ship it to India, he said.
