Serbian government denies it wants to control Serbian National Bank.

Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Zivkovic has said that the government and the National Bank must not be in conflict. Explaining the new law on the National Bank, he said that the government and the bank must act in accord. Finance Minister Bozidar Djelic said that the National Bank would be independent in its operations, but responsible for its work before the Serbian Assembly. He denied that the government wanted to control the bank. The following is the text of a report by Belgrade-based private BKTV on 11 July:
