RF Tim Salmon will be the primary designated hitter now that Brad Fullmer is out for the season with a knee injury. Salmon, 34, will be used as the DH against righthanders and will play the outfield against lefthanders. Switch-hitting Jeff DaVanon likely will complete the right field platoon.
