Officials will have to rethink future landfill projects after conservationists yesterday scored a ``landmark victory'' when the Court of First Instance ruled against the government's plans for the second phase of the Wan Chai reclamation.

Madam Justice Carlye Chu quashed the Town Planning Board's approval of a draft Wan Chai North outline zoning plan and told the board to reconsider it. Plans involve reclaiming 26 hectares between Wan Chai and Causeway Bay.
