A low price doesn't always denote a good value in a car. That's why we put together our list of recommended vehicles costing less than $25,000. To make the list, a recent version of the vehicle must have performed well in our tests, have average or better reliability, and have performed acceptably if crash-tested. Prices reflect the manufacturer's suggested retail price, destination charge, and typical features such as automatic transmission (unless otherwise noted); antilock brakes; air conditioning; power windows, mirrors, and locks; cruise control; and CD player. Some sedans (see profiles, starting on page 38) are also available as a wagon. Within the categories, vehicles are listed alphabetically.
