Highfalutin food processors may hog the spotlight on TV cooking shows, but plain old blenders beat them hands down if you're making frozen drinks or fruit smoothies, crushing ice, or pureeing vegetables for soup.
Blenders cost anywhere from $20 or so to several hundred dollars. Even models at the lower end of that range should do a passable job at the usual tasks. A higher price will generally get you more style and features.
