PDA makers are blurring the distinctions between the two main types, Palm OS and Pocket PC models.
Choosing between the two is now a matter of deciding which you need more: Palm OS's compatibility with a wide variety of software that runs on computers and PDAs, or the Pocket PC's ties to Microsoft Windows.
Palm OS models, long considered simple, more affordable, but less powerful than Pocket PCs, are gaining the power needed for new uses such as playing music and taking or viewing digital photos. Meanwhile, the traditionally powerful but pricey Pocket PCs are less expensive.
