At a time when child car seats have been redesigned and passenger vehicles modified to make car seats simpler to install--and thus I more likely to be used correctly--our tests of 25 child car seats show that a surprising number had design flaws or were difficult to make fit securely. Children who ride in those seats may not be protected to the fullest extent possible. Consider these findings:
