A U.S. district court has dismissed a lawsuit by the National Wrestling Coaches Association and others claiming rules enforcing Title IX discriminate against male athletes.
Judge Emmet C. Sullivan in June ruled that changing the rules would not necessarily bring back the men's sports that are being cut, nor did the wrestling coaches and others have suitable legal standing to bring the lawsuit. He said a "multiplicity of factors" affect schools' decisions to cut sports, and Title IX is just one of them.
