Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia, July 5 (Jiji Press)--Finance chiefs from Asian and European nations on Saturday agreed that the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS, had only a small impact on Asian economies.

The view was offered at the first-day session of two-day talks among finance ministers of the Asia-Europe Meeting, or ASEM, forum in the Indonesian resort island of Bali.

ASEM groups 10 Asian nations, including Japan, South Korea and China, and 15 European countries such as Britain, France and Germany. Denmark is absent from the ongoing meeting.
