Everyone who is anyone these days is launching his or her own signaturescent. In essence, you have not arrived in celebrity terms until you have your ownfragrance line with your name proudly emblazoned on the bottle.
They are known in the business as celeb-scents and, in every sense of the word, they arenice little earners.
While such fragrances usually have a very short shelf life, they generally enjoy volumesales and their short but glorious lives yield millions for those involved.
Model Naomi Campbell has now launched a total of three fragrances. Singer Celine Dion has just let her first perfume loose on the world.
Designer and media darling Paul Smith has enjoyed great success with his, while actress Isabella Rossellini has just issued her second fragrance called ISA Bella. Supermodel Kate Moss is about to get in on the act with her own floral-oriental scent while former supermodel Cindy Crawford has also lent her name to a fragrance.
A trio of British designers - Jasper Conran, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen - are all about to launch theirs this autumn. For some reason none of their Irish counterparts have followed suit with a fragrance of their own.
