(From Irish Independent)
Cow's Lane is already a centre for high quality fashion and design with anumber of clothes, design and craft stores. The market will make Cow's Lane a must forSaturday and will include regular live music performances.
Dublin fashionistas might kick themselves for not having the idea first. But with trendy London markets like Camden, Portobello and BrickLane to boast of, perhaps it's no surprise that two English women are behind Dublin's first outdoor fashion and designmarket.
Maya Derrington, 31, from Bristol and 27-year-old Abigail Anderson from Farnham met inDublin while working as researchers on Tyrone Production'sWanderlust series. Former Bloomsbury publicist Maya moved here seven years ago to escape London's hecticlifestyle, while Carlton TV employee Abigail moved over to live with her Irish boyfriend, whom she met in Australia.
On Saturday, July 19, they will launch Cow's Lane Market, featuring street fashion, edgy designs by the likes of Suki & Nic and the work of up-and-coming designers like GrahamCruz and Therese McKeane.
As well as testing the Irish appetite for market culture, it is hoped that it will give a much needed boost to Cow's Lane, the upmarket retail area of Temple Bar which spectacularlyfailed to grab the attention of passing shoppers.
Maya and Abigail had the idea for the market while travelling withWanderlust. They're being helped on the project by documentary maker and fashion expert Angela Monks andhave the support of Temple Bar Properties.
