BELFAST-based power company Viridian has opened the largest wind farmon the island in Derry in a move that will allow it to enter the green energy market in the Republic.
The wind-generated electricity will be supplied by Viridian subsidiary Energia, which is aiming to undercut longer-established green supplier Airtricity.
This is because Energia is offering discounts of up to 10pc on traditionally generated electricity. Airtricity offers discounts of around 5pc on "brown" energy prices.
