What could bring businessmen, children and folk singers to a gas station on a sunny afternoon? Not empty gas tanks.
They were on hand for a ceremony Thursday at which BP and 19 other companies presented a check for 3.05 million rubles ($100,500) to United Way Moscow. The event coincided with the opening of BP's 41st gas station in Moscow.
"Business is not healthy if society isn't. We view this as a long-term investment," said William Zuersher, director of BP Oil Russia, who handed over the check to United Way Moscow head Holly Nielsen.
"It's just a good thing to do," added Vimpelcom vice president Jere Calmes.
