- The government cut plans for debt sales to fund this years budget by as much as $780 million and may instead sell a bond to rescue a state utility.
- Apart from its involvement in reforming the electricity sector, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) also has been at the forefront of efforts by Asian governments to hand over to the private sector the management of water and sanitation services.
- Even as it had lowered its growth projections for countries in the region, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) still expects to see a 5-percent growth for developing countries in Asia this year.
- Government workers who will voluntarily retire could get an extra half-months worth of their salary for every year of service on top of their regular separation packages, Budget Secretary Emilia T. Boncodin has disclosed.
- The government task force for the renewed operation of the National Steel Corp. (NSC) plant in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte is now preparing the information memorandum and incentive package that would be offered to prospective investors in the steel plant.
