TOKYO, July 1 Asia Pulse - Major Japanese personal computer manufacturers are starting to retake ground in the area of nanotechnology and mechatronics technology.
NEC Corp. (TSE:6701) said Monday that it will begin marketing in 2005 notebook computers installed with fuel cells that will offer 40 continuous hours of operation, 10 times that of the lithium batteries now in wide use. The firm's fuel cell makes use of nanohorns, a type of carbon nanotube. In 2005, NEC aims to sell notebook computers installed with fuel cells for almost 10,000 yen more than conventional notebook computers.
