ADELAIDE, July 1 Asia Pulse - Ford Australia has posted a .6 million ($US13.84 million) after-tax profit for the 2002 calendar year, ending two years in the red.
The result compared to a A$16.1 million loss in 2000 and a A$5.5 million loss in 2001.
The last time Ford made a profit was in 1999 when it posted A$82.3 million.
Sales revenue topped A$3.2 billion last year, up from A$2.9 billion in 2001, with vehicle sales reaching 109,000, a rise of more than 3,000.
"The launch of BA Falcon has played a very important role in our profit result for 2002," Ford president Geoff Polites said.
"Increased passenger vehicle sales have combined with our long-standing dominance of the ute market to return us to profit."
Mr Polites said with a full year of BA Falcon production in 2003, the company's results would also improve further.
