TEHRAN, July 1 Asia Pulse - The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) in a report released here Sunday said the country's population reached 66 million in the last Iranian year (ended March 20).
It put the population growth rate at 1.7 per cent, adding that some 42.9 million live in the cities and the remainder in rural areas.
It said the population density is 40 inhabitants in a square kilometers (sqk) and the labor force 19.8 million.
Government revenues exceeded rls 61,973 billion and expenditures were rls 148,297 billion. In addition the value of government assets ceded to private sector topped rls 103,183 billion last year.
In the same period the gross domestic product (GDP) was 6.5 per cent and the GDP excluding oil receipts, was 7.5 per cent.
It put the per capita income at rls 1.27 million last year and on foreign trade registered a US$4.4 billion surplus.
The value of exports reached US$28.186 billion and US$imports 23.786 billion in the sam period.
