Tokyo, June 30 (Jiji Press)--Consumer electronics shipments in Japan dropped 5.2 pct in May from a year before to 147.3 billion yen, falling for the first time in 11 months, the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association said Monday.

Shipments of video equipment fell 8.7 pct to 82.3 billion yen to mark the first drop in 14 months, due mainly to a decrease in shipments of plasma display panel television sets.
