TWO congressmen closely identified with businessman Eduardo "Danding" Cojuangco yesterday asked the Presidential Commission on Good Government to go easy on Cojuangco, who is in hot water for appearing in a controversial television commercial.
Their reason: The chair of San Miguel Corp. is part of the administration.
Rep. Prospero Nograles (Lakas, Davao City) said the PCGG-initiated cases against Cojuangco were "still pending before the courts and he shouldn't be prejudged for mishandling SMC funds."
"In the meantime, don't rock the boat," Nograles said, noting that the Nationalist People's Coalition which Cojuangco founded is allied with the ruling Lakas-CMD. Lakas is co-chaired by President Macapagal-Arroyo and Speaker Jose de Venecia.
"Danding is part of the Macapagal administration and he is supportive of the government," Nograles added, for emphasis.
