APPROVED in principle.
This was Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief Anselmo Avenido Jr.'s response to the proposal to mix seized shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with poison to keep the illegal substance permanently off the streets.
Avenido said President Macapagal-Arroyo herself was open to the idea proposed by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) during the command conference on drugs held over the weekend in Malacanang.
The President, he said, acknowledged that mixing confiscated shabu with cyanide was an "innovative way" of dealing with the drug menace.
"In principle, the idea is good because people would think twice before recycling illegal drugs," Avenido told the Inquirer.
