A SUSPECTED car thief took the van of his neighbor, along with the victim's two-year-old daughter in Tondo, Manila on Saturday night.
But when the van ran out of gas, the suspect abandoned the girl, along with the vehicle, in the middle of the North Luzon Expressway early the following day.
Personnel of the Philippine National Construction Corp. found Claire Aina Salonga inside a blue Starex van on the shoulder lane of the North expressway near Bocaue, Bulacan on Sunday.
The girl was reunited with her father, Alejandro, in a Bocaue hospital, where she was taken for checkup.
The father told authorities that he owned the abandoned vehicle.
