WHAT, no sparks?
Yesterday's much-awaited hearing where defense lawyers were expected to start presenting evidence in the plunder case against ousted President Joseph Estrada merely ended in yet another postponement, this time to July 28.
But the lack of heated exchanges was made up for by courtroom jokes freely dispensed, mostly by former Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Manuel Pamaran.
"Justice delayed is justice pregnant,'' Pamaran, one of Estrada's four court-appointed lawyers, said in response to a complaint by special prosecutor Dennis Villa-Ignacio that the defense had once again stalled court proceedings.
