CHARLOTTE COUNTY -- A teen covered his face with a ripped blue sleeve and, as his roommate stood watch outside the Walgreens liquor store Thursday, walked inside and flashed a gun.

Sheriff's detectives arrested two teens in connection with the case early Friday. Tyler Eric Fincher, 18, is accused of being the gunman; he was charged with armed robbery. Nicholas Spencer Cheever, 16, was charged with principal to armed robbery. They live in an apartment on Forrest Nelson Boulevard in Port Charlotte.

Their arrests mark the fifth and sixth this month involving teens accused of robbing local shops with guns. The Walgreens robbers got away with about $400.

"It's just a sign of the times," said Sheriff Bill Clement, citing a rising student population in the county. "If we don't get a jump on it, it's going to get out of control."
