TAMPA -- Gainesville-based indie rockers Hot Water Music mark their return from a recent tour of Italy with a headlining gig Wednesday night at Twilight in Tampa.
The post-hardcore quartet has become a strong presence in the underground rock scene during the past few years. And they are now courting mainstream audiences thanks to more pop-friendly production values, more frequent touring and write-ups in such tomes as Rolling Stone.
"OK, so we're playing some freaking shows, and I'm not dead, which is good news for me, anyway," exclaims bassist Jason Black, who was hospitalized with exhaustion in April, in a May e-mail update to the band's Web site.
(The group's travels reportedly prohibited them from engaging in a telephone interview before press time.)
