You'd hardly know this was music from the Baroque period, the tunes are so fluid, so harmoniously flowing, gentle, and lyrical. Even the fast movements are taken at a leisurely pace, making the whole sixty-six minute listening experience one of relaxed enjoyment. In other words, this is Baroque music for people who don't especially like the "tinkle tinkle of Baroque music," as a good friend once called it.
The five concertos on the album represent Telemann's flute concerto output through the years, from 1720 through 1740. Among them, the first two on the disc are particularly delightful, TWV 51:G2 and TWV 53:A2.
