Sars bar lifted
YESTERDAY the World Health Organisation (WHO) removed its recommendation that people should postpone all but essential travel to Beijing due to the Sars outbreak. Beijing is the last area in the world to which this advice still applied. This recommendation was lifted now that the situation in the Chinese capital has improved significantly. The last new case in Beijing was isolated on May 29, since when a number of suspect cases have been considered but ruled out as Sars. More than 20 days have now passed since the last new case was isolated in Beijing. Earlier this week Hong Kong was removed from the areas affected by Sars.
