THE financial services watchdog yesterday warned consumers not to lettheir credit cards out of their sight in the wake of a security breach which meantthousands of numbers had to be re-issued.

Up to 3,000 Irish credit card holders have received new credit cards after the breach in the US led to the potential threat of fraud.

Visa USA yesterday said they had recently become aware that a US-based merchant had an internal security breach which created a potential compromise of Visa accountinformation.

The new cards have been issued to 1,000 AIB card holders, 1,000 Bank of Ireland customers, 73 at National Irish Bank …
