Blantyre, Malawi (PANA) - The Malawi government has shelved plans to construct a 137 million Malawi Kwacha (about 1.5 million dollar) two-storey state-of-the-art mausoleum for the country's founding father, the late Hastings Kamuzu Banda.
Health minister Yusuf Mwawa, who chairs a special committee for the Kamuzu Mausoleum, said Saturday the decision to halt the project was "purely economic and not political."
