Sharm al-Shaykh, 20 June: Some 33 ministers representing 29 countries held a plenary session on Friday [20 June] ahead of the World Trade Organization (WTO) informal ministerial two-day meeting to kick off Saturday under the chairmanship of Egyptian Minister of Foreign Trade Yusuf Butrus Ghali.

Ghali said Friday the Sharm al-Shaykh meeting is the first informal consultative one to be held in a developing country after similar meetings were held in Sydney, Tokyo, Paris, Mexico City and Singapore.
