Goldman Sachs today warned there was a "mild negative" development for Check Point (Nasdaq: CHKP) investors, citing Nokia's release of an internally developed virtual private network (VPN) solution.

On Monday, Nokia released the Nokia Secure Access System, a remote access solution using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. According to Goldman Sachs, the product could compete in the long term with the more comprehensive Secure Internet Protol-based (IPSec) VPN offerings sold in partnership with Check Point.
