Bucharest, 12 June: King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia ended on Thursday afternoon a two-day state visit to Romania, paid at the invitation of President Ion Iliescu. The Romanian head of state saw the Spanish sovereigns off at Otopeni Airport, where a military ceremony was held for their departure.

During their visit the Spanish sovereigns held talks with Romanian President Ion Iliescu, had a meeting with the Speaker of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies and the president of the Romanian Senate, and with the Romanian prime minister.
