Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin sank clutch free throws in the final seconds here to lead New Jersey past San Antonio 77-76 and level the National Basketball Association Finals.

The Nets evened the best-of-seven series at 2-2 with game five here Friday and game six Sunday in San Antonio. A seventh game, if needed would be next Wednesday in San Antonio.

New Jersey players came through in what they considered a must-win situation. No team has ever recovered from a 3-1 deficit to win the NBA Finals.

Martin scored 20 points and added 13 rebounds for the Nets while Richard Jefferson had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Kidd finished with 16 points and nine assists.
