Although the U.S. Education Department has given its approval to Harvard University's controversial new policy requiring verification of sexual assault, a campus committee working for seven months on the issue has instead called for deeper, more widespread changes.
Instead of relying on a committee, an attorney trained in conflict resolution would handle complaints and conduct an investigation. A new office would be in charge of sexual assault prevention and response, and spend more time teaching first-year students about rape.
