Heeere's Johnny Miller's short list of players he thinks--no, knows--would be gimmes to contend for the U.S. Open title at Olympia Fields outside Chicago on June 12-15. There are Hale Irwin and Lee Trevino, "super-good, accurate drivers and tough competitors." Or the late Payne Stewart: "A guy you could bet on. He had it all, but he especially had the perfect game for this course--straight, conservative off the tee, stay out of trouble."
Alas, of that trio of multiple U.S. Open winners, only Irwin is entered (by exemption, at age 58) this ...
