TOKYO, June 2 Asia Pulse - Orix Corp. (TSE:8591), Japan's largest leasing company, merged three group rental car subsidiaries into a single firm Sunday, making it the second-largest player in the industry, with a fleet of 28,300 vehicles, The Nihon Keizai Shimbun has learned.
The move is designed to trim the combined work force in administrative jobs at Orix Rent-A-Car Corp., X Rent-A-Car and ifco Rent-A-Car -- all wholly owned by Orix -- and boost profitability. Orix Rent-A-Car, the surviving company, now has 340 employees and a nationwide sales network with 364 outlets.
