JAPAN'S LION DEVELOPS TEXTILE-USE PHOTOCATALYST MATERIAL.
TOKYO, June 2 Asia Pulse - Lion Corp. (TSE:4912) has developed a modified type of photocatalyst that can be mixed directly in with textile fibers, giving textile products the ability to fight odors, germs and dirt.
Photocatalysts work by catalyzing the degradation of organic compounds in the presence of light. Because textiles made from cotton and the like are organic materials themselves, the photocatalyst cannot be mixed directly in with the fibers and instead is now typically mixed in with an inorganic material coated on the textile surface.
