NEW DELHI, June 2 Asia Pulse - Alarmed at the large number of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) cases in China, Indian industry has demanded curbs in import of plant and machinery from the neighbouring country, fearing spread of the infectious disease.
"Quarantining passengers and visitors from China is not enough. Life threatening germs of SARS may spread from finished products, plant and machinery as well, appropriate steps must be taken," President, Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers' Association, Mani Anmal said.
He said it is all the more imperative to curb imports from China when the country is allegedly dumping all types of goods and machinery in India.
