ATLANTA -- ATLANTA, June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- SuperComm, Booth # 23729 (OFS) and Booth #10641 (CIENA) -- OFS, designer, manufacturer, and supplier of leading edge fiber optic products, and CIENA , a leading provider of global network solutions, today announced the successful completion of interoperability testing between OFS' AllWave(R) fiber and CIENA's ONLINE Edge(TM) multiservice CWDM platform.
The interoperability of CIENA's ONLINE Edge, a multiservice Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) solution, and OFS' AllWave Fiber, the industry's first G.652C zero-water peak fiber optimized for the metro edge and access applications, demonstrates the backward compatibility of AllWave fiber to the existing G.652 single-mode fiber infrastructure, while also surpassing G.652 fiber's loss performance in the 1300 nm and the C-/L- bands.
CIENA's ONLINE Edge platform provides customers with a convenient, low- cost alternative for transport of eight optically protected wavelengths onto one single-mode fiber. Service multiplexer cards provide multiple voice, data and storage services per wavelength. OFS' AllWave fiber, with the eliminated water peak defect, coupled with CIENA's ONLINE Edge platform enables 50% more spectrum as compared to standard single-mode fiber. This makes it an ideal platform for low cost CWDM deployment.
