SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 2, 2003
Psytechnics today announced that Inet Technologies (Nasdaq:INTI), a leading global provider of communications software solutions that enable carriers to more strategically operate their businesses, has integrated Psytechnics' Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) software in its Spectra2(TM) next-generation diagnostics product to measure voice quality.
Inet's Spectra2 provides comprehensive VoIP test tools, enabling developers, carriers and manufacturers to verify the performance of critical elements of next-generation networks, such as media gateways, media gateway controllers, gatekeepers and proxy servers. Spectra2 loads next-generation signaling and media paths simultaneously to simulate true network conditions, including packet loss, delay and jitter. Psytechnics' PESQ analysis software is embedded in the product to ensure quality for voice traffic.
As the internationally recognized standard, PESQ measures voice quality by comparing an input test signal with the signal output, across a connection. A Mean Opinion Score (MOS) is produced indicating the voice quality (one being bad and five being excellent). PESQ can be used for troubleshooting and enables network operators to maximize existing infrastructure.
"We closely examined competitive products but selected Psytechnics' PESQ solution for its high performance and robust feature set," said Mike Reiman, vice president and chief technology officer of Inet. "Psytechnics is an ideal technology partner for us."
"Today's telecom markets are highly competitive with shrinking margins and increasing customer expectations," said John Winchester, chief executive officer of Psytechnics. "By combining our technology with Inet's, we provide the industry with the ability to manage quality issues and optimize network performance for accelerated VoIP adoption."
