Hong Kong health officials said it had adequate measures in place to handle the resumption of tours from the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, as three new SARS cases and four more deaths were reported.
A private doctor was among the four who succumbed to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), a Department of Health spokeswoman said.
The deaths reported Saturday lifted the territory's toll to 278 from 1,739 cases.
Six more people were discharged, taking the total of patients deemed to have recovered from SARS to 1,310, with another 87 patients still in hospital, 29 in intensive care.
Health Director Margaret Chan, meanwhile, said the government had done "all the advance work" in preparation for the resumption of Guangdong tour groups to the territory on Sunday following a five week exodus due to SARS.
This included the issuance of detailed three-page guidelines to all tour group operators, including tips on maintaining personal hygiene and how to take regular temperature checks to "minimise the risk of contracting SARS."
